The Villa Schmidhalter is located high up in the Swiss winter sports centre Crans Montana. The huge snow loads mean particularly high requirements regarding the load bearing capacities of the construction whilst the extreme climatic conditions presuppose the impeccable building structural qualities of the wall and roof constructions. Both requirements could be met perfectly using Steko®.
The house with its chalet style was planned in the office Schmidhalter & Pfammatter AG in Brig. The Steko® walls were kept visible in the interior. The façade consists of a crude crown-moulding casing of larch. The large porch is typical for the building style in the Swiss Alps. The carpenters Hermann in Albinen erected the house in 1997. It is remarkable how quickly Steko® also appealed to people in such a traditional wood construction area such as the Valais. A chalet in Steko® construction!
